Sea Change

Catherine Barr is the author of many information books, including the bestselling The Story of Life, Catherine has a special talent for books on "big issues for small people". She studied Ecology at Leeds University and worked as a campaigner for Greenpeace. She lives in Herefordshire, England.

Barroux was born in Paris and grew up in North Africa. After studying at the Ecole Etienne and Ecole Boule he has worked in France, Canada and the USA and has an international reputation for his children's book illustrations

Petr Horáček was born in Prague and studied at the Academy of Fine Art. After graduating in 1994, he moved to live in England. His first two picture books were published in 2001, winning the 'Books for Children' Newcomer award. Since then he has won a string of other international prizes and distinctions, including shortlisting for the Independent Booksellers Week book award in 2016 for The Mouse Who Reached the Sky; the Best Everyday Book for One-year Olds in the Myra Robertson Baby Book of the Year awards for Choo Choo; 'Parents' Best Book of the Year 2013 for Animal Opposites; shortlisting for the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2012 for Puffin Peter; and Picture Book of the Year 2006 for the Dutch edition of A New House for Mouse. Petr tutors aspiring illustrators as well as holding workshops for children at literary festivals, bookshops and schools. He lives in Worcestershire, UK.

Nadine Kaadan is an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator from Syria now living in London. She is published in several countries and languages and her mission is to champion empowered and inclusive representation in children’s books so that every child can see themselves in a story. Nadine’s work with young refugees in mitigating post-conflict trauma has captured the attention of CNN and the BBC, both of which have broadcast special features on her books Tomorrow and The Jasmine Sneeze. She has been nominated for a Kate Greenaway Medal, and is the 2019 winner of the Arab British Centre Award for Culture. Nadine was selected as one of The BBC 100 Women 2020’s ‘most influential and inspiring women’, and was featured on their BBC 100 Women masterclass.

Jackie Morris is internationally admired for her imaginative and atmospheric picture books, illustrated with watercolours and often with a fantasy dimension. Her previous books include The Snow Leopard, The Ice Bear and Tell Me a Dragon. Her books The Seal Children, New Born Child and One Cheetah, One Cherry were published by Otter-Barry Books in 2016. In 2019 she was awarded the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal for her work on The Lost Words. Jackie Morris lives in St. David's, Pembrokeshire.

Jane Ray's distinctive style has established her as a highly successful artist. Best known as an illustrator and author of picture books for children, her work has attracted enormous attention around the world. She has been shortlisted five times for the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal. Among her many highly acclaimed titles include Ahmed and the Feather Girl; Greek Myths: Stories of Sun, Stone and Sea and Zeraffa Giraffa. Jane Ray lives in London.
